HC Deb 21 November 1963 vol 684 cc132-3W
Mr. P. Browne

asked the Minister of Education if he will ensure that school building will qualify for the extra money made available in the short term in development districts for this purpose, providing that such work has commenced by the end of March, 1964; if he will consider schemes which form part of a bigger project; and if he will make a statement.

Sir E. Boyle

School building is included in the special arrangements for development districts which apply to projects which can be completed by 31st March next. The object is to sustain the level of activity in the building industry throughout the winter without overloading it next spring and summer.

In the educational field, the arrangements apply to minor works and youth club projects costing not more than £20,000, because only these are likely to conform with the conditions.
