HC Deb 14 May 1963 vol 677 c133W
23. Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Postmaster-Genet al, in view of the Beeching proposals, what further consideration has been given to the use in rural areas of mail-carrying buses or passenger-carrying mail vehicles

Mr. Mawby

As I think my hon. Friend knows, the purposes of rural bus services and the needs of the mails are not easy to reconcile. We already make considerable use of bus services for carrying mail, and we are certainly keeping well in mind the possibility of making extended use of these services.
