HC Deb 29 March 1963 vol 674 c197W
Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he is aware that the impact of the recent rate revaluation falls most heavily on areas largely occupied by retired people living on fixed incomes, and that this increased burden is not evenly shared with adjoining areas; and if he will take action to rectify these anomalies.

Sir K. Joseph

As was answered yesterday in reply to the Question by the hon. Member for Bournemouth, West (Mr. Eden), the Secretary of State for Scotland and I propose to set up a small Committee to establish the impact of rates on different sections of the community and different income groups in order to provide a basis on which the Government can determine whether any changes were needed.
