§ 82. Mr. Shinwellasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what reports he has received from the Rating and Valuation Office at Durham regarding the position of workmen's clubs whose premises have been revalued on increases which may be impossible to meet; and whether he will instruct the rating and valuation officer in Durham to operate Section 11 (4) of the Act, which exempts clubs of a non-profit-making character.
§ Sir K. JosephI have received no reports and I have no power to instruct rating authorities to exercise their discretion under Section 11 (4) of the Act of 1961 to reduce or remit rates.
