HC Deb 28 March 1963 vol 674 cc171-2W
48. Sir H. Harrison

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will now authorise the Suffolk and Ipswich Fire Service to have an independent radio, with their own frequency.

Mr. Woodhouse

In replacing joint wireless schemes for police and fire services by separate schemes, priority has to be given, because of the shortage of frequencies available, to areas where the wireless traffic is heaviest. In relation to the priority of other claims, the allocation of a separate frequency to the Suffolk and Ipswich Fire Service cannot yet be justified.
