HC Deb 27 March 1963 vol 674 c160W
Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the urgent need to build a new Protestant primary school at Shawhead, Coatbridge, as large numbers of children have neither school nor transport facilities to other schools; and if he will consult the Lanarkshire Education Authority with a view to approving of this project being started in 1964.

Mr. Noble

Protestant primary pupils from the Shawhead area at present attend Whifflet Primary School, approximately one mile away. The education authority intends to build a new primary school at Shawhead and a site is already available. The priority to be accorded to the project is primarily a matter for the education authority, which must of course also have regard to other urgent needs elsewhere in its area.
