§ Sir B. Jannerasked the Postmaster-General what would be the cost of replacing all old telephone leads with new ones; and whether such leads can be replaced free of charge if application is made.
§ Mr. BevinsThe circumstances in which cords are changed vary. In some cases a small charge is payable, but where there has been fair wear and tear the replacement is free of charge. New cords, of the coiled type, are fitted to all telephones as they are reconditioned, but a special drive to fit them universally would cost several million pounds.
