HC Deb 26 March 1963 vol 674 c148W
Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will specify the details of his new road programme designed to answer the problems of unemployment; and in particular what minor road improvements are included.

Mr. Noble

The details are not finally settled, but I have informed the local authorities concerned of my readiness to authorise ten trunk road schemes and to offer grant on some 50 classified road schemes at a total estimated cost of £2,568,000. All except four of the schemes are in the Counties of Ayr, Bute, Dunbarton, Fife, Lanark and Renfrew, the large burghs in these Counties, and the Cities of Glasgow and Dundee; the remaining four schemes are on trunk roads in adjacent counties. Only two of the schemes will cost more than £100,000.
