Thompsonasked the Lord Privy Seal how many Foreign Service officers were seconded or attached during 1962 to other Government Departments, to international organisations and to nongovernmental bodies, respectively, in order to acquire specialised knowledge not available on training courses given within the Service.
§ Mr. SmithersTwenty-two. Of these two were attached to the Imperial Defence College, one to the Canadian National Defence College and nineteen to Universities. In addition, 48 officers were seconded for duty to other Government Departments, international organisations and non-governmental bodies, and this type of service is also valuable from a training point of view.
