HC Deb 24 June 1963 vol 679 cc111-2W
Mr. C. Johnson

asked the Lord Privy Seal what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards Recommendation 363, adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 10th May, 1963, relating to support for the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law; and what further support Her Majesty's Government intends to give to the Institute.

Mr. Heath

Recommendation 363 is currently under consideration by the Committee of Ministers' Deputies at Strasbourg and has not yet been officially communicated to member Governments of the Council of Europe.

Her Majesty's Government, who are one of the original members of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law, have already carried out the intention of the first part of the Recommendation in that they have, since January 1st, 1963, been contributing financially to the Institute at the highest rate. The other parts of the Recommendation will of course receive careful Study.
