HC Deb 24 July 1963 vol 681 cc177-8W
64. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Transport if, in view of the urgency of the matter, he will now publish the Report of the Anglo-French Committee on the subject of a channel link or tunnel.

69. Sir W. Teeling

asked the Minister of Transport what procedure will be adopted in connection with the Report which he has received from the Anglo-French Departmental Officials who have been studying the question of the Channel Tunnel; and whether this Report or the substance of it will be made available before Parliament rises for the Summer Recess.

Mr. Marples

The joint report of the Anglo-French Official Working Group will need to be carefully studied by both Governments and subsequently discussed between them before any joint decisions of substance are reached. This may take some time. The publication of the Report will also require a decision by the two Governments and I am consulting my French colleague on this point. I recognise the interest of the House in the findings of the Report; but in any case I understand that the printing timetable would not permit publication before the Summer Recess.
