asked the Minister of Education how many students are enrolled in the Ashington Grammar School; how many pupils there are per class; and what steps are being taken to deal with the pressure on the present school building.

In January, 1963, there were 606 pupils on the roll of Ashington Grammar School and the average size of class was 28.9. Substantial extensions to the school are included in the major building programme for 1962–63.
