HC Deb 18 July 1963 vol 681 cc79-80W
45. Mr. Charles A. Howell

asked the President of the Board of Trade if, in the interests of public safety, he will issue regulations to prohibit the import of all electrical fittings where the leads do not comply with the British standards of red for positive or live, black for negative or neutral, and green for earth.

Mr. Erroll

No, but my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary is preparing regulations prescribing the colour coding of leads for domestic electrical appliances and these regulations will apply to imports.
