§ Mr. Bottomleyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many Europeans possessing South African citizenship will be qualified to vote under the terms of the franchise he has proposed in Swaziland; and how many Africans possess South African citizenship without also being British subjects or British protected persons, and are otherwise qualified to vote.
§ Mr. SandysOn the basis of a census taken in April 1962, approximately 1,300 Europeans possessing South African citizenship only might qualify to register as voters on the Swaziland European Roll. The number of African residents who possess South African citizenship only, but otherwise meet the residential and tax-paying qualifications for registration on the National Roll, is estimated at about 6,000.
