Mr. Awberyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware that the United Nations Committee for Refugees was, in October, two million dollars short of their 1963 target, and that several countries have made a special contribution towards this fund; and what extra contribution is being made by Her Majesty's Government towards this target.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerYes. As my right hon. Friend the then Lord Privy Seal informed the hon. Gentleman the Member for Gateshead, West (Mr. Randall) on 24th April, Her Majesty's Government are prepared this year to double their normal annual contribution, and216W to contribute up to £200,000, subject to certain matching arrangements and to Parliamentary approval.
