§ Mr. A. Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why he will not take the necessary steps to authorise the holders of Post-War Credit certificates to deposit such certificates with building societies or local authorities as a deposit for obtaining mortgages on houses.
§ Mr. GreenPost-War Credits are repayable before the normal age in certain categories of hardship cases, but house purchase does not seem to me to be comparable to any of these categories, and I do not think it would be right to give it preferential treatment.
