HC Deb 14 November 1962 vol 667 cc51-2W
60. Mr. Kitson

asked the Minister of Transport when he expects to receive the report of the Worboys Committee on road signs and if he will make an interim statement.

Mr. Marples

I understand that the Committee is hoping to report to me in March, 1963. I do not think it would be appropriate for me to make a statement until I receive the report.

61. Mr. Kitson

asked the Minister of Transport if he is satisfied with his experimental signs advertising service centres for motorists in by-passed villages and towns, as the Wetherby and Buckden by-passes on the A.1; and if he will now introduce this sign for other service areas on trunk roads.

Mr. Marples

The Worboys Committee on Traffic Signs is considering the experimental signs erected at Wetherby. I propose to wait for its report before deciding whether more signs of this nature should be permitted on the highway.
