HC Deb 13 November 1962 vol 667 c24W
44. Dr. D. Johnson

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the number of grants which he has paid for the purpose of inducing British scientists to return from North America; and the total amount to date of such grants.

Mr. Barber

Grants are not paid to scientists for this purpose, but interview boards in North America are run jointly by the Government and the Atomic Energy Authority. The Exchequer share of the cost totals about £13,000.
