11. Mr. Small

asked the Minister of Labour what was the ratio of wholly unemployed boys of 18 years and under to the number of notified unfilled vacancies for boys in Glasgow and Birmingham, respectively, at the latest convenient date.

Mr. Green:

At mid-April for every 100 unemployed boys, there were 74 vacancies in Glasgow and 322 in Birmingham.

15. Mr. Willis

asked the Minister of Labour what was the ratio of wholly unemployed boys of 18 years and under to the number of notified unfilled vacancies for boys in Scotland and the Midlands, respectively, at the latest convenient date.

Mr. Hare:

At mid-April, 1962, for every 100 wholly unemployed boys there were 66 unfilled vacancies in Scotland and 762 in the Midlands.

17. Mr. Hoy

asked the Minister of Labour if he will state the increase or decrease in the number of boys under 18 years of age in employment in Scotland between 1957 and the latest available date.

Mr. Hare:

There was a decrease of 2,000 between 1957 and end-May, 1961.
