§ Q1. Mr. Charles A. Howellasked the Prime Minister if he will issue a direction to all Government Departments that no contracts be issued to any firm known to have prevented their employees from attending Territorial training and, where possible, to cancel existing contracts with any such firm.
§ The Prime MinisterService in the Territorial Army is one of the most worthy contributions a citizen can make to the defence of his country and I should deplore it if any member of the Territorial Army were prevented from fulfilling his obligations. But this is a voluntary service, and in my view it is better to rely on the voluntary cooperation of employers.
