asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty if he will state the naval establishments, other than dockyard and civilian establishments in the Portsmouth Command, their purposes and the number of officers and ratings, male and female, borne in each establishment and the totals.

The information for which the hon. Member asks is set out in the following table. Several of the establishments listed were in the Nore Command before it was closed. Apart from Headquarters and establishments such as hospitals whose function is obvious from their titles, these shore establishments are all concerned with the training, initial and advanced, of R.N. and W.R.N.S. officers and ratings.
