§ Mr. Pavittasked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science how many drinking water samples have been analysed by the Government Chemist since the start of the Christmas Island tests; if there has been any increase in iodine 131 and strontium 90 in the samples to date; and when it will be possible to assess whether the threshold of health dangers has been reached in this country.

The analysis of drinking water from over twenty sources is included in the Government's monitoring system and reports are published in the regular series when they become available. It 8W is most unlikely that any measurable fallout from the recent tests can yet have reached this country.
