HC Deb 04 July 1962 vol 662 c41W
41. Mr. Lipton

asked the Minister of Transport why the lowest tender for the county road section of the Staines bypass was not accepted last January; and why the company which put in the lowest tender in January was not allowed to tender again when the job was re-advertised in May.

Mr. Marples

The acceptance of tenders for classified road works is a matter for the local highway authority; in this case the decision not to accept the original tender or to allow the firm concerned to tender a second time was made by the Middlesex County Council.
