HC Deb 28 February 1962 vol 654 c153W
69. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport what was the estimated cost of installing turnstiles to collect fees for passing through the Dartford-Purfleet tunnel; what yearly income is expected from such fees; and how soon the cost of the tunnel will be paid for.

Mr. Marples

About £57,000 including the cost of the toll booths and the toll collection equipment. The yearly income is expected to be about £1 million. It is estimated that that part of the cost which is to be recovered from tolls should be amortised in about 20 years.
