HC Deb 28 February 1962 vol 654 c153W
71. Miss Lee

asked the Minister of Transport if he will amend his regulations in order to enable more than 40 competitors to take part in the British Cycling Federation's Tour of Britain.

Mr. Marples

I will consider the hon. Member's suggestion, though it is not without its difficulties; meanwhile I would point out that it is at present possible for more than 40 competitors to take part in a particular event, if the appropriate officers of police in the areas through which the race passes give their consent. This in fact happened in last year's Tour of Britain.
