asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science who represents the United Kingdom on the Standing Committee of the British Commonwealth Scientific Committee; how often the Standing Committee met during the year 1961; and what proposal has been made for the calling of a Commonwealth scientific conference in the near future.

The United Kingdom is represented on this Committee which is now known as the British Commonwealth Scientific Committee, by the Secretaries of the three Research Councils and the Director General of the Nature Conservancy. The Committee met in the United Kingdom in 1960, did not meet in 1961, and will be meeting in India in November/December. 1962
