HC Deb 22 February 1962 vol 654 cc63-4W
38. Mr. Brewis

asked the Minister of Education what special facilities are available for the teaching of children suffering from dyslexia or word blindness.

Mr. K. Thompson

Opinions differ as to the nature of this disability, and one of our medical officers is engaged in the individual examination of several hundred children who are said to be suffering from it. Remedial teaching for backward readers is arranged in many areas.
