HC Deb 22 February 1962 vol 654 c66W
Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Minister of Education whether he is aware of the decision taken as an economy measure by the Cardiff City Council to reduce by 42 the education committee's estimate of the number of teachers required for the forthcoming year; and, in view of the effect this will have on the size of classes in Cardiff schools, whether he will call for a special report on this decision.

Sir D. Eccles

My information is that the Cardiff local education authority has taken account of the number of teachers that, having regard to the quota, it expects to have in post in the next financial year. No significant change in the staffing standards of its schools is involved.
