HC Deb 20 February 1962 vol 654 cc26-7W
61. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the comprehensive review which he is now to carry out into monopolies and restrictive practices with a view to deciding whether any amendments should be made to the Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1956, will embody the inquiry which he is already conducting into the effect of Section 25 of that Act; whether he will require any further views from interested bodies on that Section of the Act; and whether he now proposes to delay the reaching of any conclusions with regard to Section 25 until his new and comprehensive review into monopolies and restrictive practices has been concluded.

Mr. Erroll

Until I have completed my study of the results of the fact-finding inquiry undertaken by my officials, I cannot say whether I can reach conclusions with regard to Section 25 of the 1956 Restrictive Trade Practices Act, before my review of monopolies and restrictive practices legislation generally has been completed. I doubt, however, whether I shall need to obtain further views from interested parties on matters arising from this Section of the Act.
