HC Deb 13 February 1962 vol 653 c131W
69. Mrs. Butler

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what steps he is taking to preserve local community interests in his proposals for the reorganisation of local government in Greater London.

Dr. Hill

I see no reason why the reorganisation of the structure of local government should adversely affect the vigour of local communities in the London area.

Mrs. Butler

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what arrangements he is making to ensure that new council offices are easily accessible to the public in his plans for the reorganisation of London local government.

Dr. Hill

The new borough councils will be responsible for making office arrangements. Most of them are likely to have more than one office at their disposal. In deciding on the immediate use of these, or in making long-term arrangements, the councils will, I am sure, have in mind the point made by the hon. Member.
