Miss Leeasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what information he has about the number of local authorities who have exercised their right to provide for musical and other cultural activities under Section 132 of the 1948 Local Government Act which empowers a levy of up to 6d. in the £ for such purposes.
Dr. HillMy information is not complete because I learn of proposals under Section 132 of the Local Government Act, 1948, only when loan sanction is required. Since 31st March, 1959, nineteen local authorities in England and Wales have received loan sanction in respect of their functions under the Section.
