§ 65. Mr. Sorensenasked the President of the Board of Trade what action is taken by his Department, in the interests of consumer protection, to bring to the attention of manufacturers reports submitted to his Department by recognised consumer organisations of defects in, and misleading information concerning, goods supplied by such manufacturers; what action is taken to ensure that such practices are discontinued; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. N. MacphersonThe reports to which the hon. Member refers are not prepared for my right hon. Friend's Department, and he is not responsible for them, though he reads them with great interest. I have no doubt, however, that they are carefully studied by the manufacturers concerned with a view to the removal of genuine defects and to the correction of mis-statements.
