HC Deb 21 December 1962 vol 669 c281W
Mr. Russell

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that southbound traffic usually has difficulty in emerging from Great Cumberland Place, W.I, because of the almost constant stream of traffic travelling eastwards at that point, and that pedestrians have difficulty in knowing when to cross Great Cumberland Place; and what are the final plans for traffic control at this junction.

Mr. Marples

The difficulties of traffic and pedestrians here are at present aggravated by Christmas shopping. Traffic conditions in the Marble Arch area are under review with the L.C.C. in connection with the Park Lane improvement scheme, and the installation of traffic control signals is under consideration. Meanwhile, the police are giving what assistance they can to pedestrians and traffic.
