HC Deb 12 December 1962 vol 669 c79W
97. Mr. Kershaw

asked the Minister of Transport what proposals he has for regulating traffic on three-lane highways by means of painted lines for traffic lanes.

Mr. Marples

The advice I gave to local authorities in 1960 about the use of double white lines, warning lines and lane lines, applied to three-lane roads as well as two-lane roads. I am, however, now trying out alternative markings on long hills and level winding roads to give priority to two lanes of traffic in one direction.
