HC Deb 12 December 1962 vol 669 c77W
93. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Air what is the cost of the continuous air alert; and whether it is to be borne by increased Defence Estimates or at the expense of economies elsewhere in defence.

Mr. H. Fraser

Should it be necessary in the future to order a continuous air alert, the cost would not raise the percentage of the Defence Budget spent on the deterrent above the current figure of about 10 per cent.
