§ Mr. McKayasked the Minister of Education what were the average amounts of grants given to students entering the universities or teacher training colleges in 1961, including help from local and national sources; and what were the average individual financial liabilities these students had to meet at the colleges.
§ Sir E. BoyleThe average cost of fees and of maintenance as assumed for grant purposes was approximately £397. Towards this, grants from public funds provided on an average £330, the balance being found by parental contributions and the students' own income from scholarships, etc.
