HC Deb 11 December 1962 vol 669 cc27-8W
24 and 25. Mr. Dance

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies (1) what contribution Hong Kong makes to British Overseas Airways Corporation's routeing agreements with foreign and Commonwealth airlines; and how many agreements are obtained through reciprocal rights offered by Her Majesty's Government for operating into Hong Kong;

(2) what effect the expansion achieved by Hong Kong's industry over the past 10 years has had on the value of the Colony's flying rights.

Mr. Fisher

Hong Kong's industrial expansion has undoubtedly added to its attractions for the world's airlines. Exchanges of air traffic rights are on an overall basis and it is therefore not possible to distinguish the benefits obtained for British airlines in exchange for rights in this particular Colony, although they are certainly very great.
