63. Mr. Strauss

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will publish the recommendations of the Railway Board about the size and shape of the railway system before he comes to any conclusions about the general closure proposals.

As my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary told the House last Thursday, we have not yet seen these proposals. I cannot therefore give a categorical reply to the right hon. Gentleman's question. But I can assure him that the Government will take the House fully into their confidence before any final conclusions are reached on the Railway Board's proposals for the future size and shape of the British railway system.
