§ Sir W. Bromley-Davenportasked the Minister of Transport whether he will give a general direction to the British Transport Commission to investigate the possibilities of using branch railway tracks as footpaths and bridle paths.
§ Mr. MarplesThis is not an appropriate matter for a direction. The responsibilities of the British Transport Commission do not extend to the provision of footpaths and bridle paths. It is open to any appropriate authority wishing to provide such a path to negotiate with the Commission for the use for this purpose of land surplus to the Commission's requirements.
