§ Mr. Denzil FreethThe Department of Scientific and Industrial Research are studying the use of electronic computers to enable the cutting of plates and the bending of ships' frames to be speeded up and more accurately controlled. The British Ship Research Association, which receives a grant from D.S.I.R., is carrying out a programme of work aimed at improving shipbuilding techniques.
