HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 c118W
39. Mr. V. Yates

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the evidence, contained in the anunual report of the Chief Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis, that violence on television contributes largely to increased criminal activity, if he will ask the committee, which he has appointed to inquire into the impact of television on society, to expedite its report.

Mr. Brooke

My predecessor arranged for a conference of experts to be held to consider possible lines of research in this field. The conference made recommendations about the scope of such research and how it might be organised. These are now being studied, and are to be discussed with the British Broadcasting Corporation and the Independent Television Authority.
