HC Deb 19 April 1962 vol 658 cc102-3W
Mr. Matthews

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will consider suitable applications for industrial development certificates in the villages of Polesworth and Arrington, in view of the forthcoming closure of North Warwick Colliery and the consequent redundancy of many coal miners.

Sir K. Joseph

My right hon. Friend understands that North Warwick Colliery is to go on to single-shift working in August, and, that 300–450 men will be transferred to other pits in the neighbourhood. He does not consider that any special action in relation to the issue of industrial development certificates is called for.
