HC Deb 19 April 1962 vol 658 c98W
Mr. P. Wells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many applications for assistance under the Horticulture Improvement Scheme have been received from Kent farmers, how many were granted, and what was the sum involved.

Mr. Vane

By the end of March, 1962, 553 applications for grant under the Horticulture Improvement Scheme had been received from growers and growers' marketing co-operatives in Kent. Four hundred and twenty-nine of these have been approved, 80 withdrawn or rejected, and 44 are under consideration. The approved proposals are estimated to cost £1,155,338 on which grant would be £385,113, of which £106,171 has already been paid.
