HC Deb 19 April 1962 vol 658 cc112-3W
61. Mr. Hiley

asked the Minister of Transport why he will not impose the holiday speed limit of 50 miles per hour at Easter.

62 and 63. Mr. Mason

asked the Minister of Transport (1) why he is not imposing a restricted speed limit during the Easter holiday;

(2) in view of the late Easter and unusually long winter, if he is aware that if good weather prevails over the Easter period there will be a mass exodus from town to country; and if he will now consider imposing restricted speed limits on certain roads to help eliminate the high accident rate.

Mr. Marples

Experience has shown that the traffic volume at Easter is not comparable with that at Whitsun and on summer week-ends and for this reason no speed limit is being imposed this Easter.
