Footasked the Minister of Transport what consideration he has given to the representations made to him by the Ipswich Borough Council regarding the dangerous conditions at the junction of Woodbridge Road East and Heath Road; and Whether he will provide traffic control signals at this junction.
§ Mr. MarplesI am proposing to provide a roundabout at this junction as soon as the necessary statutory processes and the detailed design can be completed. I have carefully considered the council's request for traffic signals in the meantime but I do not think this would be a satisfactory solution. I intend, however, to carry out immediately a number of temporary improvements, including the provision of a service road and bus bay and better carriageway markings.
