asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty what was the purpose of the recent cruise of H.M.S. "Britannia" in the Mediterranean; what personnel apart from naval crew accompanied the vessel; and what was the estimated total cost.

Her Majesty's yacht "Britannia" conveyed Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on a visit to military units in Gibraltar, Cyprus and Libya. Her Royal Highness was accompanied by two Ladies-in-Waiting, a Gentleman-in-Attendance, her Comptroller and four personal staff. The Commander-in-Chief, Near East, joined the Royal party for the journey from Cyprus to Tripoli. The estimated additional cost of the cruise was about £4,700.

Since first commissioning eight years ago four refits have been undertaken at a cost of £67,000, £69,000, £163,000 and £208,000 respectively.
