HC Deb 18 April 1962 vol 658 c76W
Commander Courtney

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware of the potentialities of the United States Navy's Subroc weapon, now in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation service; and whether this weapon can be fired from the torpedo tubes of contemporary British submarines.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

We are aware of the potentialities of this antisubmarine weapon which is not yet in service. Its progress is being followed with interest by the Royal Navy. H.M. submarines would not be able to fire it without adaptation.
