§ Mr. E. Taylorasked the Minister of Education what is the ceiling for the number of technical colleges which may be recognised as regional colleges throughout England and Wales; and how many colleges he proposes to reclassify as regional colleges in his forthcoming list.
§ Sir D. EcclesThere is no fixed limit to the number of regional colleges which may be recognised.
I shall not decide on the number to be re-classified until I have considered the views of the regional advisory councils and local education authorities concerned.
§ Mr. E. Taylorasked the Minister of Education what criteria, apart from number of students in all grades on full-time, sandwich, part-time day and evening courses, he applies when deciding whether or not to grant regional status to a technical college.
§ Sir D. EcclesThe criteria were set out in my Department's Circular 3/61, a copy of which I am sending to my hon. Friend.
