HC Deb 16 April 1962 vol 658 c26W
Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Transport, in view of the fact that representations made by local authorities have been unsuccessful, whether he will take action to improve road conditions on the main road from Gilwern to Clydach, Breconshire, caused by the contractors whose lorries are engaged on the Heads of the Valley Road.

Mr. Marples

The existing road is being widened by excavation of the adjoining hillside. In wet weather it is difficult to prevent mud and other debris getting on to the road. The contractors are, however, doing all they can to keep the road as clean as possible by manual labour and mechanical sweepers.
