HC Deb 16 April 1962 vol 658 cc25-6W
Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Transport what progress has been made towards the completion of the Heads of the Valley road from Abergavenny to Brynmawr; and whether he will expedite the work within the County of Brecon.

Mr. Marples

I hope that nearly half the new road will be opened before the autumn. Owing to adverse weather and other difficulties, I do not expect the remainder of the scheme to be completed until next year. The section in Breconshire entails difficult engineering work through the Clydach Gorge, which is being done as fast as is practicable.
